ANXIETy In Teens

Anxiety, like depression, is very common and very treatable with counseling. It can manifest as body changes (shaking, sweating and increased heart rate), avoidance, panic, dread, excessive actions and intrusive thoughts. When anxious, life can feel overwhelming, situations can seem life threatening and obsessive thoughts can seem confusing. Common behaviors can be avoidance, over planning, retreating to safe spaces and places, lack of confidence and avoidance of risks (minor or major). Common feelings are scared, fear, worry, panic and generally feeling overwhelmed. Common thoughts are related to the future and catastrophe, "What will happen when....?" "What if...?" "How will I...?" "How will they...?" "I won't be able to manage when...?"
